Black History Model Edition" The Black Beauty Naomi Sims"

I can't imagine why we black women still have skin issues. Well we do. Even me being a reddish brown skinned girl(my Indian roots) have experienced major lows because I was confused about what beauty was. Growing up I saw these beautiful black images on t.v and in film but I also noticed that the hero always ended up with the light skinned girl or the white women. That can really confuse a child. Even to this day studies are done to see where children's natural attractions lie, but it is just that a lie. How can you deny a woman with the smoothest and creamiest chocolate skin a gorgeous smile and a stride to match. As you can see I am talking about Lady Naomi Sims

Naomi Sims was born in 1948 in Oxford Mississippi. She went from a dreaming teen to teen supermodel. Her biggest break came after signing with another former model's modeling agency(Wilhelmina Cooper) and was booked for
an AT&T  commercial that took her career to the next level. She said the great thing about it was when people saw the commercial they wanted to know who she was and use her. Interesting note she was offered the role in "'Cleopatra Jones" but turned it down because she was not happy with the depiction of blacks in the film. Who knew? Aside from her masterful career in modeling she was a muse; photographed by Andy Warhol, and she started a multi-million dollar empire in hair/ beauty and cosmetics for black women.  She was  all beauty and all brains. She authored several books, showing women how to be there best and never give up on your dreams. Naomi along with the rest of the women I have brought you are apart of an elite group of women all women should take inspiration from. Women who faced adversity and won. Women who have pulled up their sleeves to fight for their dreams, and women who at the end of the day are grateful for everything they were able to accomplish. I know She is looking down at Joan Smalls, Liya Kebede, and Chanel Iman and can be proud that she was a pioneer of the black model.
